When explaining to the bus driver why I was picking Isaac up tomorrow instead of letting him take the bus home…
“So, does that mean I can come tomorrow morning and put a sign in your front yard that says ‘we don’t live here anymore! We went back to CA’?”
Oh…and Maeve…Good luck today. You’ll be just fine! Can’t wait to hear how it all went!
so, here it is again, the holiday season. Am I enthused?
Yes and no.
First, the holidays mean the invasion of the Outlaws. Both in person and via telephone. They do tend to make life miserable…at all times. Their lack of civility and passive agressive nature make life so miserable. Prime example…in a fit of rage because we didn’t attend Doug’s cousin’s wedding, I was called a racial slur, and he was told that he was to divorce me. Then, once Other half stated that their grandson was half of the targeted racial slur…they attempted to backpedal.
Nice, isn’t it?
And people wonder why I’m through with them.
Second, the holiday season brings out the wackjobs of the world. The emails that fly around from those who are holier than thou are disgusting. Between the fundamentaist Christian ones that scream about how “the baby in the manger is ignored..” and the ones that are designed to make you cry, it’s sickening. Especially when your non-Christian friends get them as well.
Ok..now that I’m off my ranting soapbox, here’s what I enjoy about the holidays…
1) decorating my house. I love it. It’s fun, and even if my Scrooge of a hubby doesn’t like it, or enjoy it, I do, so there.
2) Christmas at church. The kids’ mass is just a blast. This year, it’s all about Isaac being a star. It’s fun. trust me.
3) the smells and sounds and sights. Snow sucks, but the smells are just fun.
so, even though I didn’t put up what I’m thankful for at Thanksgiving, I guess I’m thankful for a lot. BUT, what i’m most thankful for is that we’re all in one peice…and that as much as I can’t stand my outlaws, and I am enjoying some other things, it is the holidays, it comes once a year…and I’m going to sit back and enjoy the ride.
We just got back home from the show in Glens Falls, and man, oh, man was it an amazing show.
The Preshow was adorable, but I missed most of it, because we forgot the camera in the car, and I had to run back and get it! DH didn’t want to go..ok, fine.
When I got to our seats, I found they were just amazing. Glens Falls has no upper deck, so we were facing the stage and up high enough that he could see! the security wasn’t really “ticket checking” any of hte empty seats, so once the show started, you could sit anywhere that was empty. The entire crowd was mellow, and everyone was there to have fun!!
But, Bus Driver Bob came out, gave the rules and did the preshow, and then on came the DOODLEBOPS!
They did the theme song, and then in the middle of the song, Moe cartwheeled off and HID! then, ensuded a game of “Where’s Moe?” Isaac was laughing and pointing at Moe’s hands and when he rolled across the stage!
It took Isaac 2 songs before he realized that he was seeing the real Doodlebops! it was then when he finally started to clap, sing and dance! He was bouncing, yelling “HI” and just generally having a blast.
The highlight of the show for Isaac was when they sang “get on the bus” with the bus coming out. He was just in complete awe. He didn’t know WHAT to do! He said “School Bus” a few times, but i twas general awe.
10 minute intermission ensued, and just as monkey pants was getting bored and restless (I used this time to break out the snacks. he ate and shared some popcorn and cookies. I offered him and his new buddy a lolipop, but they both told me no thank you.), the Doodlebops came back with the sparkly costumes on!
they did the wobbly whoopise, Bird is the word and a few others. Isaac Adored the bird song, especially when the doodlebop dancers (who are FANTASTIC) brought out these birds thta had these long tails on sticks. it was amazing.
They had DeeDee pull some kids up on stage for a song, and she was just the sweetest. One girl asked if she could have a hug, and DeeDee obliged!
We finally got down to the floor so Isaac could watch Moe pull teh rope and set off confetti, and he could see the bus up close and get a high 5 from Deedee Rooney and Moe, and off the Doodles went on their bus.
We didn’t see Jazzmin, and Audio Murphy was only out for a few seconds. Not that we missed Jazzmin, but I know Isaac would have liked to see Audio Murphy for a few more seconds.
But, overall, it was an amazing show! I’m so glad we went. Even my Dh who was grumbling all the way to Glens Falls had a GREAT time!
I’d definately, definately, definately go see them again!!! YAY!
As soon as I get the pictures developed (I didnt’ use the digital, because they requested no flash, and we have a good camera with a telephoto lens that uses high speed film, so we brought that.) I’ll post them. I love the ones and I hope they come out, Of Isaac dancing and watching the bus!
Again, awesome show! I was BLOWN AWAY!
I think since Isaac had such a good time, I’m only going to purgatory…wiggles..that wouldbe a one way trip to permanent parentng hell.
That there would be a line at STAPLES to start the opening at 6 am.
Me? I didn’t. I know that Maeve warned me, but come on…this is insane. It wasn’t the heights of lunacy that wam mart aspires to, but here’s my annual Asscrack of Dawn Shopping tale. I’ve got one for every year…so, here’s this year’s.
5:15-Alarm goes off. I dawdle and lay in bed for a few minutes…
5:25- Get tush out of bed, wander downstairs, jump in shower (I can’t go scummy. Just can’t.)
5:35-Get dressed, gather all needed items and head out the door. DAMN it’s cold!
5:40-On road to staples (that is next to the wal mart)
5:45 -Notice traffic is getting heavier as I get closer to the mecca and Staples.
5:50- Notice there is a LINE at the door of staples. Oh, my lord.
5:52- Get in line. Chat with very nice guy whose wife was stuck in wal-mart because they overcharged her,a nd he was praying she’d get back in time, because the item that they wanted was 1 per customer. They needed 2.
6:00 Doors open, line moves.
6:02-Approach door and notice the frenzy inside. Note to self…do NOT understand why people must run into stores and act like they’ve never seen merchandise before.
6:03- Find out where the hard drives are for Beth and Jason.
6:04-Nice guy and I get into the crush to get said hard drives.
6:05-Staples Guy opens the boxes as fast as he can. People start grabbing hard drives as he’s dumping the boxes over.
6:05:20-I reach in and grab a hard drive…and hand one to Mr. Nice guy.
6:06-Find flash drives, grab one for Beth and Jason
6:06:30-Find Router for me and Doug-grab one
6:07-Get in cashier line. (Found a short one. They had EVERY register open and all of them at the copy center and customer service! Go Staples! That’s the way to do it!!!)
6:09-Cash out Beth and Jason’s stuff.
6:10- Cash out my stuff.
6:10:30- get asked by poor deluded soul where I got my hard drive. THEY ARE COMPLETELY OUT OF THE HARD DRIVES.
6:12- back in car, getting ready to drive home.
So, what’s so lunatic about all of this?
1) The mob of people at the hard drives. People are elbowing, grabbing and it was a frenzy of hands, feet and attempts NOT to crush the poor guy opening the boxes. It seems to me, that if you’re going to offer this sale from 6-10 am, you should have enough stock to get you until at LEAST 7-8:00. Nope. These hard drives lasted all of 8 minutes, maximum. Yes, 8 Minutes. I felt for the poor Staples floor employees who had to tell the deluded souls who showed up at 6:09 am that they didnt have a snowball’s chance in hell of getting a hard drive unless some sweet person gave theirs up. That was as likely to happen as the snowball SURVIVING hell.
2) The running people. Umm…people. It’s STAPLES. This is not Wal Mart. I just don’t see the reason people think they have to run to get these things. Yes, I was powerwalking, but once I saw people coming out with Hard drives, I had a feeling that it was going to be a fast sell out. People were in full out SPRINT mode. Again. This is STAPLES. Not that big of a store. Sprinting- not needed.
3)The fact that an office supply store (with some good stuff, don’t get me wrong) had a 70 person deep line when I got there.
So, that’s my Black Friday asscrack of dawn shopping experience. I’m going to go set up my wireless router.
From our ping pong table to yours…
Just witness this conversation between me and Beth.

Dear Secret Pal,
Thank you SO much for the lovely package!
I hadn’t ordered anyhting in a while, so the “thud” on my porch was most unexpected, but welcome!
The needle case is just SOOOOOOOOO beautiful! I was eyeballing one of these at Rhinebeck, but did the “naah…I’ll wait” type thing.
Oh, and the surprise of size 1 Crystal Palace DPN’s was just amazing! I did the “bouncy bouncy” thing as I sat on my couch opening it.
Oh, and then there’s that yarn…that BEAUTIFUL sock yarn that I can’t get enough of! The colors remind me of the leaves coming off the tree in my front yard! I can’t wait to cast on with it!!! YAY!
You have truly outdone yourself. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you.
Consider yourself hugged!
Hope you and your family have a wonderful Thanksgiving!!!
Your most appreciative Spoilee,
(and for those of you who want to see the stuff, I’m taking pictures to have developed Friday. My digital is out of whack.)
