District incompetence

Y’all are sick of hearing rants about Niskayuna Central Schools, aren’t you?

No? Really?

Guess what? Here’s ANOTHER one!!!

Isaac had the requisite evals that the committee wanted, and they were faxed over last week. Yesterday, when I dropped him off at school after his flu shot, I was cornered by the director who, after a small conversation about a few other things, asked if I had heard anything about the meeting, as she hadn’t heard squat. I hadn’t heard squat either, but by the time I really thought about it, it was too late to call the district and fidn out what the heck was going on.

So, I get on the phone, and warn Doug: “I’m calling the school district.”
His response : “I think I’m going to go watch Mythbusters upstairs. Let me know when you’re done.”

So, long story short here, After gettng rerouted to 3 different people who I hatd to tell that my child was not a CSE kid, but a CPSE kid, and finally getting the right person who scheduled the meetings…I find out that the meeting is scheduled for…ready…

NOVEMBER 21st at 11:30 am.

Have I gotten anything in writing yet? Nope. Not a thing.

So, I gently remind her that I refuse a SPA, and that I haven’t recieved an  invitation.

Here’s the kicker…get ready…

THEY HAVE NOT MAILED IT YET. It’s going out tomorrow or Monday!

Ok, let’s discuss timeline here. By virtue of the state and federal law, I must have a notice of meeting in writing in my hot little hand no less than 5 days before the meeting, unless extenuating circumstances apply. None apply in this case. And for that matter, none applied in the last meeting case where I had no more than 2 days notice! Lovely, huh?

So, if they mail it out tomorrow, it won’t get here until Wed, because of all of the channels it has to go through, and then that’s oh, less than 5 days!

Nice, huh?

I thought so.

rant over.
